Additional Information
The illustration on this enamel box is based on The White House, a 1914 oil painting by John Ross Key, grandson of Francis Scott Key. It is a depiction of the White House as Key would have viewed it from Pennsylvania Avenue during the Wilson administration. Key's painting has been a part of the White House Collection since 2000, and hangs in the White House today. On the inside of the box is a rendering of the modern Red Room, one of four state reception rooms in the White House.
