About the Cherry Blossom USPS Stamp Magnet Set:
This collection of four magnets features images of popular USPS cherry blossom stamps. This is official USPS licensed product. It was First Lady Helen Herron Taft's idea to plant the cherry trees along the Tidal Basin and her wish was realized in 1912 when 3,000 trees were given to the United States by Japan. Now more than 100 years old, the mature cherry trees with their spectacular springtime blossoms are celebrated annually with a festival and parade in Washington D.C. The top two stamps are from the 2015 collection when the U.S. Postal Service and Japan Post jointly issued Gifts of Friendship Forever stamps, celebrating the American issuance during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC. The lower two stamps were issued by USPS in celebration of the centennial of the gift of more than 3,000 cherry blossom trees from the city of Tokyo to Washington, DC.
