Product description
Honey bees have long played an essential role in pollinating the expansive flower and vegetable gardens on the White House Grounds. So important is their role in ensuring colorful blooms and bountiful harvests that in 2009 a beehive was established on the South Grounds near the Kitchen Garden. The hive remains active today, housing an estimated 70,000 bees. Over the years, the honey produced by the bees has been used in recipes prepared by White House chefs, as special gifts to White House guests, and even used for brewing Honey Porter and Honey Ale beers.
